Neurodivergent worship
Переглядів 198Місяць тому
Typical church services aren't always accessible to people who are neurodivergent. But there are a lot of things we can do to make them open to more would-be worshippers, and at the same time helpful and more meaningful to existing worshippers. Members and friends of our Enabling All team gathered at St Martin's Church in Walsall to put on a service showcasing many different ways we can make wo...

Winnie Wallace.... Happy birthday to my son "Brian"..Bimp....Christend in St John's church and his funeral was held there..age 5. He is very much remembered by his sister Max and momma Elaine.
The Holy bible that was just held up, at 1 Peter 5:3 states " Neither as being LORDS over God,s heritage but being examples to the flock". Paul aslo said that "Men will arise, from amoung you (the bishops) yourselves " ( Acts 20:30 ) Also Peter was chosen to be one of Jesus's principle apostles, he was just a workingclass fisherman "Unlettered and ordinary" yet this 'Bishop Michael' had to obtain a university degree in Theology to qualify to become a 'bishop'! ( Paul did not include special education skills when he outlined the qualifications for 'bishops' at 1 Tim 3: 1-7 ). How can we equate the humble men who served as 'bishops' ( there were several in each early congregation bye the way!) with the 'bishops' today in both the anglican & catholic churches who wear special robes, sit on a 'throne' have a ring that is kissed, live in a 'palace' have servants and have great authority over a whole 'dioceease' ( a Roman province originally!). This is not the was Jesus Christ wanted his followers to act! Sadly it was fortold!
If Peter was "unlettered" (illiterate) how did he write his Epistles?
@@JohnParks-zc1pn A good question! There was, as in now a difference between a basic education of reading, writing, e.t.c & 'higher education. In Jesus day as mentioned by both Philo of Alexander (20BC) & Josephus (37AD) Jewish youths were given thorough education of basics especially God's Law (Deut 6:7. However the pharisees & sadducees attended 'RABINICAL SCHOOLS' where they were taught the tradition of the talmud e.t.c. It was with this in mind that the religious leaders taunted Peter & John, that they were 'unlettered && ordinary' which basically wasnt true! So we can conclude that Peter COULD read & write, but he didnt need 'special education' in the manmade traditions of men. ( Its very similar today! A person cannot become a priest, bishop, cardinal, pope, arch bishop in either the catholic or anglican church without a degree in 'theology' obtained from a university or special college.) Surely this is the reason for the prevalence of unbiblical philosophy and atheistic reasoning found in the teachings within these churches today!) Paul warned of such...Col 2:8!
As Dean Emeritus (and hymnwriter) Robert Willis of Canterbury Cathedral says, music can help worshippers remember words to hymns such as "O God Our Help in Ages Past". I'd add that unfortunately a lot of older people have hearing loss (partially from doing too much music), and also that there are a good number of weepy hymns, however, just the reciting of liturgical words, keep us all connected and also I am sure those with dementia. Thanks for this relevant presentation.
Well done
I think many people are more open and positive to christianity than we think. Just openly trying to live the life of christ has a positive effect on people I think.. An inspiring video.
I do racial justice like anti white bigotry but I DO NOT do this woke disease.
Binary black and white. Why no reflection of the other races in the world 🌍 ??!
I dont do woke. Woke is beloved weapon to falsely accuse native indigenous ancestral white Scottish welsh Irish and ENGLISH of racism. NO NO NO.
Woke alarm bells.🚨🚨🚨
St.Chad pray for us
You are absalutly right, it Is ignorence of the scriptures. You cannot miss interpret certain scriptures. No where in the bible dous it say, a man will leave his parents and cleave to his husband. It states a man will leave his parents and cleave to his Wife. No one on the planet can miss interpret that.
I would have thought it is not ignorance of the Scriptures, but different interpretations of the Scriptures, that is the major issue. When one is talking about documents written between two and three thousand years ago, simply reading translations of these documents does not suffice. One must understand who the authors of the various books of the Bible were, who were the intended recipients, what was the date of composition, and what was the cultural context. The lectionary that was redesigned in the 1970s is meant to give Christians significant exposure to the Scriptures.
Thoroughly enjoyed these videos on the story of Saint Chad. Well done! I would love to see Reverend Simon do more stories of the Saints et cetera.
Wonderful 👍
This was wonderful. Thank you
Love this xx
I wanted to hear less from the clergy and more from the people with learning difficulties and disabilities. I also feel that it is potentially ghettoising for people with learning disabilities to have their own services and perhaps with that their own separate christian social life. There needs to be a church service where people with learning disabilities are respected as equal members among many - equality being the really important thing. What is so damaging is that people with learning disabilities are very often in society treated as disabilities rather than as complicated and individual human beings who happen (among many other qualities) to have a disability. I myself am not a Christian but the question I have is if God is both all powerful and all loving why are people born sometimes with strong physical/learning disabilities. What have they done to deserve it? The issue here is moreover societies attitude to people with disabilities. Why does God let it happen when he knows we as a society are still so backward in how we see people with disabilities and so many of them through no fault of their own are mocked and patronized and belittled and have a very painful and difficult life. Notice that I am saying many - not all. I think to be honest many Christian believers who have profound disabilities may have similar questions. I only hope the church is straight and non patronising in how it responds to such difficult questions.
Well said that Padré
We thank God for the upcoming "translation" (as they say) of relics of St Chad from Birmingham to the new shrine at Lichfield Cathedral and we can see the blessing of Bishop Michael of Lichfield in the ecumenical outreach that made this possible.
Very good!
You all need to grow up mate. Go out smoke some weed have a few drinks. You're not getting out of this alive 😄
Most respected Bishop, Greetings from Bangladesh.
I remember the visit of Rose Hudson-Wilkin to my church in the early 1990s when I was in my early twenties, and have met John Allan many years ago. Rose Hudson-Wilkin was a curate in Wolverhampton during that period and she was interviewed by one of her successors as curate in another video to celebrate 25 years of women in Holy Orders. The interviewer in question was Gayle Greenway, who went on to become Vicar of my church, St James Brownhills!

This is a beautiful and very impressive statue of St Chad, the artist has done an amazing job at creating this statue and I look forward to seeing it in person when I get to visit Lichfield again.
It is indeed a beautiful and impressive statue, it always makes an impact on me as I walk to the Cathedral. Come and see it soon if you have not already.

No baptised Christian should be forced out of church it breaks the vows taken by the whole church and God knows it
.. .. What does one expect from an organisation that was established by the Act of Supremacy in year 1534 because of King Henry VIII's nuptual problems and resulting tiff with the Pope, because King Henry VIII was living in bigamy and the Pope would not allow King Henry VIII a divorce so that King Henry VIII could continue having sex with his new lover. After the establishment of the Church of England, King Henry VIII had 50000 innocent people killed, amongst them many devout catholic priests. Thus, the foundations of the Church of England are rotten through-and-through, and the Church of England should be allowed to fade into oblivion so that something better can replace it.
Fab! Thank you both.
What a great idea to get some Big Picture oversight and perspectives on Church. Paula makes it sound (perhaps it is!) very simple and orthodox whilst highlighting learning points around accessibility and defiant faith. I wonder how we can come into this sense of spiritual re-awakening? Taking to heart our Shaping for Mission prayer would be a good starting point.
